Dr. Federico Rojo (MD, PhD in Pathology) is a Medical Specialist in Pathology at the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Fundación Jiménez Díaz (ISS-FJD) in Madrid since 2007, where he is also the head of the Molecular Pathology Laboratory and Department Head. He is director of the Breast Cancer Research Group, coordinator of the cancer research area and Scientific Director of the Biobank at ISS-FJD. Since 2010, he is also president of the group of pathologists in GEICAM and member of the GEICAM Board of Directors. He completed his training as a resident doctor in Pathology between 1995 and 1998 at the Hospital Vall d`Hebron, Barcelona, where he did his PhD. He subsequently trained at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas. As a researcher, Dr. Rojo has participated in a total of 21 competitive research projects (all of them in oncology, mainly breast cancer), being principal investigator in 9 of them and as associate investigator in 16 projects from 1998 to 2017; 2 of these projects have been funded by the European Commission. He is involved in national cancer networks such as RECTICS, CIBER and Plataforma de Biobancos, where he is the principal investigator. Dr. Rojo has published a total of 181 papers in indexed scientific journals related to cancer and more than 300 presentations at national and international congresses, such as the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) or the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).
